The Rutherford County Humane Society’s energy and passion for helping our county’s animals is at an all-time high. We’ve assisted in more spay/neuters, rescued and fostered more animals, provided more food assistance, and adopted out more animals in 2013 than in any previous year!  Our volunteers have given countless hours of personal time to rescue animals in desperate situations. Our foster parents provide food and shelter and care, often using their own personal funds.
RCHS is an all-volunteer effort. We have no paid staff, and every dollar we take in goes directly to helping the animals! This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and all other medical needs. We are not associated with the national organization Humane Society of the United States and get no funding from them. We are also independent from the local animal shelter and Community Pet Center, although we do work with these and other groups to help Rutherford County animals. In short, RCHS depends entirely on donations from our local contributors.
You have given so much, as well. Your financial support has saved the lives of thousands of animals. It is the lifeblood of this organization and the primary reason we weathered the past several years.
Of course, saving more animals also means we spent much more on veterinary expenses.
Since our coffers are presently low, some might say we shouldn’t have taken on so much. But it’s the reason for our existence. We are often the last hope for an animal. We simply can’t quit on them.  And so, with heartfelt gratitude for all you’ve given in the past, we are asking you to give a little more if you can. There are many very effective ways you can help.

  1. Become a member and donate the most generous financial contribution you are able to.
  2. Ask your friends and family to give. They can even do so in the form of a Christmas present; or in honor of a friend or a beloved pet.
  3. Generate, or assist in our fundraisers.  We always need good ideas for effective fundraisers.
  4. Donate food and pet supplies.  These are desperately needed to help our foster pet parents and needy people who need help caring for their pets.
  5. Donate your time as a volunteer or become a foster pet parent.
  6. Get the word out to everyone about the Rutherford County Humane Society, our events, our Web site, and our Facebook page.

With your continued help, together we will carry on this work for many more years to come.

A donation to the Rutherford County Humane
Society makes a lovely Christmas Gift.

You just indicate the name and address of the friend who is to be the recipient.  We will send a Christmas card to this person telling about your gift of love that will help another pet toward his forever home.
