She was a flea-ridden stray who finally found a food bowl at a house at the end of a dead-end street. But a food bowl was not enough for Gracie. She wanted IN THE HOUSE! Every time the people opened the door she darted in. The people were sorry for her, thin and bedraggled as she was. But they were concerned that her leg rubbing would trip them up. And they didn’t want fleas in their house. And they sure didn’t want kittens “next thing you know.” That’s why they called the RCHS. Beverly Cobb was the volunteer who went out to the dead-end street and gathered up Gracie and started her on her journey -- first to the veterinarian, then to our Adoption Center, and FINALLY ….
Hi fellow cat lovers,
As you can see in the pictures, Gracie is happy in her new
forever home. She made herself right at home the minute she arrived.
When we came to visit her at the Humane Society, she really didn't
audition herself in the best manner!! She was scared and did not like
the other kitties. But, after more than an hour of visiting with her,
we decided we should take her home with us and try to make her happy.
We were really afraid no one else would love her and adopt her. The
ride home was more than an hour and she slept most of the way and never
cried or fussed. When we got her home, we introduced her to her room,
well one of her many rooms, as we all know the whole house belongs to
them!! Anyway, she ate and drank right away and used her litter box.
She even slept with us the first night!! The next few days were filled
with adventure as she had to check out all of her new surroundings, and
that she very well did, from the top of the cabinets and refrigerator to
under the beds and in the bathtub, no water of course!! She has many
favorite spots to sleep during the day and still sleeps with us most of
the time at night. She is a good night sleeper, so far as she is ready
to go to bed when we do and ready to get up when we get up. She is not
a lap cat, but does like to be close to us. She loves on us and is more
loving each day. She enjoyed her first Christmas with us, but I think
everyday is Christmas around here to her. After losing our 21 year old
kitty last Christmas, 2006, I never thought I'd be able to love
another. But, I do!!!
